Phantasy Star Portable for PSP announced

Phantasy Star Portable for PSP announced - Sega has announced that Phantasy Star Portable, one of the most anticipated PSP games, will be released in March 2009 for North American PSP gamers.

The game is developed by Alfa System and was recently released in Japan, selling 500,000 copies in one week. Sega will no doubt be hoping for similar success in North America with the Japanese-developed RPG.

The story of Phantasy Star Portable takes place just after the events of Phantasy Star Universe, and players have to partner up with Vivienne – a new character for the series – to investigate an outbreak of wild animals that seem to have the remnants of a wicked force.

There are more than 150 new weapons and items to find in this PSP game, and you may choose from three Class types and four Races before you begin your long adventure.

In addition to a single-player mode, there’s also online co-op play where you can team up with three others via the PSP’s ad hoc wireless mode. And perhaps, the reason for huge success of this PSP game in Japan is because of its 4-player multiplayer support.

Exclusive new missions and ‘hardcore features’ are also included – such as Item and Enemy Book records and Titles unlocked by achieving difficult goals. This will add a few hundred hours of replay value to Phantasy Star Portable making it the most addicting RPG PSP game.
